St. Xavier water polo began in the 70’s and ran through the early 80’s before the program was paused. In that short time the bombers were competitive and won the 1979 state championship. The team was restarted in 2010 as “AMDG” (Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam – for the greater glory of God), and after a few seasons the program became St. Xavier once again. St. Xavier has hosted a few different events through the years, and while the Sunlite Shootout is no longer running, it has been replaced with the Midwest Best Tournament. The Midwest Best has featured over 30 teams from 6 different states.
